It’s early in the year and you may still be working on resolutions or setting goals for this year. A great mission is to work on your efficiency and maximizing your time each day. Here are 8 tips to help you get the most out of your workday

Have a Morning Routine

Each person is going to have a routine that is unique to them, so what works for one person might not work for you and that’s okay.

    • Wake up at the same time everyday
    • Spend 15-20 minutes getting positive input. This can be listing to a podcast or reading a book. You want to internalize messages of positivity, growth, and success.
    • Exercise 20-30 minutes. Get your heart rate up. Regular exercise is good for your health and mind. Exercise helps with focus and regulates your emotions and mood.
    • Eat a well-balanced meal. Avoid sugary and calorie deficient meals. Protein, fiber, fats, carbs, etc. are all important nutrients to helping our brains function optimally throughout the day.

Plan what You are Going to Do the Day Before

To make the most efficient use of your time, you need to do what your day has in store. Spending 10-15 minutes the day before will help you know what tasks and responsibilities you have for the day. Prioritizing your day and the tasks can help reduce anxiety and keep you from forgetting things that need to get done. You can make a to-do list and time-block so you are prepared for where you need to be and when.

Eat the Frog

When it’s time to work, get the most important thing done first. This is something that can’t get pushed off, and will need you to dedicate 100% percent of your attention.

Your Workspace Needs to Suit the Mood

Avoid clutter and distraction. Whether you’re in office or at home, your workspace needs to provide you with a space to work efficiently and maximize productivity.

Assess How You’re Feeling

Do a self-assessment inventory to determine how you’re feeling. Are you feeling burned out? If so, plan for more breaks in your day to work on less strenuating tasks to allow your mind to relax. If you notice a trend of high or low energy periods throughout the day, adjust your schedule to accommodate tasks best suited to your energy level.

Avoid Multitasking

We are less efficient when our mind is doing too many things at once. Our productivity and efficiency is at its highest, when we give our undivided attention to a single task.

Be Positive

To remain positive, you want to think and behave positively. Positivity begets positivity. When you associate with other positive people, your energy can improve, and you are happier.

Have a Nightly Routine

This can be the time you lay out your clothing for the next day. Journal and acknowledge 3 positive things you experienced in your day as well as 3 things you were grateful for. Having an attitude of positivity and gratitude will help you see the good in your life.
